Review Mangafest 2013 Part 2

Mangafest Day 2 - More crowded than Day 1 The second day of Mangafest was more crowded than the first one . The night before, I wrapped the booth with some fabric and raffia. I had a feeling that during the second day, it would be raining so I took a preemptive measurement by asking the event manager to get me some plastic wrapper in case the raining started pouring. What I wore in second day of Mangafest 2013 was my self made cotton kimono and my other home made hiraki cotton nagoya obi. I also gave a shot to adding some lace, kantan eri, fancy obiage and crazy headdress. Later, I found that my headdress wasn't really suitable on my head with that kind of hair style. Some items for sale including yukata, obi, furoshiki, chopsticks, bento tools and geta (not in picture)  Speaking about the day - which is really hot - I really was bounded to my booth I barely could take a peek to others booths. This was a little bit sad you know, because every time I participated...

Review Mangafest 2013 Part 1

So, as I stated my heart background at my previous post about Mangafest 2013. This was my first time running a booth without my partner, Mbak Sabi, which meant that I tan this booth ALONE, Mbak Sabi went to HelloFest (HF), running her booth there with her friend, Rinei :D. I prepared a lot of things. I modified the hanger. Usually (when I said usually, it means when Sabi-san and I run the booth together) we use her hanger for hanging all of the yukata, but this time, I used a random crossbar I got from scavenging a random corner of the matsuri. I found a rather sturdy crossbar and tied them with raffia. The booth was going basic - as simple as I could manage :P. The weather is really nice and sunny. Got dehydrated easily. I wore my red gingham komon and yellow himawari self made hiraki nagoya obi. The first day of Mangafest was relative quiet as usual. I managed to persuade two lovely boys to get dressed in kimono. They were actually a cosplayers.

Kimono Day: Kitsuke January 2014 Part 3 + Hubby Marubiiiii~

Totally basic and geometrical kitsuke. My kimono had dots motifs with various size, obi was hexagonal with geometrical patterns, haneri and obiage were stripes (the juban and haneri were really abused this time :P). This ensemble was the combinations of the previous kimono in first ensemble and obi in second ensemble. Trivia: hubby just rolled, curled, swam around the bed when I was dressing, sometimes he changed the TV channel or hid under the bed cover :D :D. I didn't envy him a bit. Humph! He sometimes helped me install the clothes-pins to keep both juban and kimono alligned and neat ^o^. He sometimes helped me with the otaiko, make sure it was neat and in a good propotion. He has a SLIGHT obsession with box. If I fit I sit.... Trying weird pose. I was like saying, "Smell me hair, Matey, it has weed" or something like that :P. Update from my Instagram: Constipation photo series Yeahhhhh~~ I looked like I was having bad digestion and what with my hairstyle ...

Kimono Day: Kitsuke January 2014 Part 2 + Frankenstein auaaak....

January is also a rainy day. The weather is humid and raining everyday. I love rain, so I don't complaint. The first ensemble was my renew stripe komon. It's one of my favourite komon, but the collar and wingspan was really wide, was too big for me. I asked my friend, Sabi-san, to adjust the length and she did perfectly. I guess I'm fine with needle and thread, but for such a delicate work I will ask the pro. I love this kimono. We went to Kawaii Suki and Sushi and ordered suki. Ponpon ^w^. Urechiii~ I paired the kimono with my red maroon geometrical hiraki nagoya obi. The obi was homemade. I bought the fabric in my favourite online shop. The motif is hexagonal, that's why it resembles kikkou (tortoise shell) which symbolize longevity. I put my trusty purple gradation obiage for complement the ensemble. I looooooovvveeeee this stole very much =^w^=. It's really warm and really versatile, can be converted into muffler, cape, blanket and also stole (no...

Kimono Day: Kitsuke January 2014 Part 1 + Hubby Marubi Miaw Miawww

Hubby visited Yogyakarta. We called it going home :D. He really loves Yogyakarta, has a lot of memories with Yogyakarta and thinks about settles in Yogyakarta. For him, Yogyakarta is really special. This month, I had a chance of wearing three sets of kimono. I brought to set of kimono and the accessories were exactly the same. If you look closely, you will find out that the haneri, and the obijime were the same. The juban was of course without doubt was the same. Hubby is really kind to let me wearing kimono in such a short interval time (not more than a week). Arigatou, Habimaru, for letting me doing my kimono selfishness. I will make the kitsuke into three parts since it will be three sets of kitsuke. Here is second ensemble and third ensemble. The first ensemble was this polkadot white in black yukata upgraded into fancy kimono with the addition of juban, haneri, obiage and obijime. I instantly fell in love with the yukata first time I saw it in the internet. I usually find...

ISOTK Round 2 5th Stop: Maria MH, Sidoarjo

This time, the kimono moved to Jawa Timur, Sidoarjo to be exact. Our participant, Maria Magdalena Husain  was currently the oldest one, but it didn't hinder her from participating this project. Jadinya bagus... perutnya gak kelihatan gendut. Heheheee... You can see the complete album set in here . You can also like and keep an eye to the kimono journey throughout Indonesia via Indonesian Sisterhood of Traveling Kimono (ISOTK) . Where will be the next destination of this kimono? Anyone want to guess?
