Goofing Around at Sannin Party 7 Unisri, Solo (part 2 of 2)

Okay, I guess this is part 2 of goofing around at Sannin Party :P. I will post mainly our customers' kitsuke and some bonus pics of our back stage (?) activities. As you may know, we set our booth at Sannin Party Unisri at 3rd February 2013. At some point of event, this was actually to promote our page, Indonesian Sisterhood of Traveling Kimono ;). We then expanded the booth into yukata rental hahaha.... I already printed the name card in a rush instant (off-the-record: I cut the name card myself, found a really cheap print place :P). Without further ado, let me present you our hustle bustle day at Sannin Party ;). Our customers obviously were girls and lady-dudes. But we had a dude's customer. He lost in a game and the rest of the participants demanded him to wore yukata. Sabi-neechan was a really skillful in tying the hanhaba obi. I need to improve my chocho musubi's skill .__. I got a heat prostrate. Maybe the way I tied my kimono and obi were rather too tight. I wa...

Goofing Around at Sannin Party 7 Unisri, Solo (Part 1 of 2)

How did it start? Nggg....I guess Sabi-oneesan got some information about a matsuri event in Solo. We wish to have a booth there. I have plenty of yukata to be rented and Sabi-oneesan has some. After we got the deal about the booth, we found an aid for transportation and accommodation. The day before the D-day, Sabi-oneesan slept by my place so we didn't need longer preparation time. Apart from her yukata for rental, she also brought her ready stock and made-by-order or custom kanzashi. She showed me how to make a kanzashi. It was a test for my patience and my endurance since kanzashi is actually an elaborate and delicate handcraft :D. Anyway, the day before the D-day, we also surveyed the place, and we were lost to the point we reached Sangiran (what the....?!?). But we managed to find the matsuri place and way back home to Yogya, we had some glass of warm milk and roti bakar in the random food stall in Solo. Things are so much better when our tummy is full ;). After we set ...

Kimono Day: March 2013 Kitsuke + Eating at Kawaii Suki and Sushi (Again)

I dearly wanted to wear kimono and looked for some opportunity. When the chance of matsuri didn't happen in March, I created other event to cater my craving of wearing kimono :P. Then, I asked some members in my group to tag along. Since it was rather sudden gathering, the participants were small. I was afraid that only few would come since it was too sudden and was raining almost the whole day. But nonetheless I was contented ^w^. We went to Kawaii Suki & Sushi, one family restaurant serving Japanese cuisine with spacious room and nice atmosphere. I wore black with red and white polkadot komon and paired with gray home-made faux-denim obi. It was custom made obi and was decorated with simple hand emboidery. One of my kimono friend made this from me. Her name is Sabi-oneesan ^w^. The boring gray colour obi was brighter when some colour was put there hihihi.... As for the kimono, I really love the komon! It draped neatly and nicely to my body. Yay! The kimono drapes nicely. G...

Kimono Day: February 2013 Kitsuke + Eating at Kawaii Suki and Sushi

I never wore tsukuri obi before, so I kinda curious about how to wear tsuke obi. Tsuke obi can safe your time in doing kitsuke and as the name indicated, it was pretied. My kimono friend, Agnes, relinquished my curiosity by lending me one of her tsuke obi. The obi was made from tsumugi silk. I also wondering how tsumugi feel like in the real life since silks has various texture. I finally receieved the obi and to my surprise the texture was stiff and neatly woven. I barely need obiita when I wear this obi. The obi was single layer and has no core, but still, hold very well without any wrinkles. Very astounding! And I fell in love with this obi. It can make perfect box otaiko which I love ^w^. Long story but short, I negotiated with the owner to let me have the obi. She finally let me have it with some compensation hehehe ^w^. And now the obi is mine. I love my polkadot komon, but I also hate it for an obvious reason. The kimono wrinkles easily! AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaa....T^T. Anyway, pl...
